QVED 2016 – Editorial Design Conference Munich
February 25th – 27th , Alte Kongresshalle Munich

Soul food – for magazine makers and lateral thinkers, wordsmiths and picture-wrights, storytellers and chroniclers.
QVED is back: text kisses design, transformation kisses tradition, Munich nibbles the Netherlands and food magazines canoodle with hungry visitors.

Newspapers, blogs and columns, independent and public, niche and corporate – the QVED takes editorial at its word. It clears a path through the media forest, exposing its designers to the light of day and the eyes of the world.

QVIG, the little sister of QVED

Conference

A story is a story is a story is a story. Or is it? With listeners becoming readers, and readers becoming users, storytellers have to keep re-inventing themselves. So let us talk about the ever-changing nature of editorial design, the endless wellspring of new ways of storytelling, and what may lie abreast.

The fourth international Editorial Design Conference will see magazine makers offering insights into new global trends and surprising counter-trends, and examining contemporary transformations. Gathering under the question, “Quo Vadis Editorial Design?” (QVED for short), designers, journalists and publishers discuss their latest work, providing a glimpse into their successful and failed projects alike, and showing examples from others who have inspired them. Europe’s largest conference on editorial design is more than conference by and for editors: it is pure inspiration for designers from every field.

Location

Alte Kongresshalle

The Alte Kongresshalle (Old Congress Hall) has been a centre for public and private events since it was built in 1952/53. Set in grounds near Theresienwiese at the heart of Munich, the imposing building underwent extensive restoration and technical modernization by the Edith-Haberland-Wagner Stiftung in 2007 and is now an ideal setting where various kinds of individual events can be staged.

The main hall of the Alte Kongresshalle offers a space for concerts, conferences and congresses. The mezzanine gallery and hall gallery create the perfect atmosphere for smaller private or business events, while the stunning entrance foyer is a prestigious setting for gala evenings, premieres or receptions.

The outstanding feature of this heritage-protected and highly versatile event venue is its retro-futuristic architecture. Its severely simple and clean lines are continued throughout the interior and define the unique character of this landmark of Munich culture.
